Weight Loss

Overview

Someone is considered obese when their weight is significantly high for their height and they have a high body fat percentage. A BMI (body mass index) is typically used to determine whether a person is considered obese.

The main cause of obesity is due to poor dietary and/or exercise habits. Consuming excessive foods, in particular fatty foods, leads to the body storing unused calories as fat. This may raise cholesterol levels, increasing the risk of heart disease, and cause other issues such as breathlessness and back pain. Obesity is a high risk factor for diabetes.

Obesity may also be caused by certain medications, hormone imbalances and stress.

Treatments

One of the most common treatments for weight loss is the aid of slimming pills, along with a set diet plan. Regular exercise is also very helpful, and has a range of health benefits too.

Xenical is a slimming pill which can be prescribed to those with a body mass index of at least 30, or to those who have health issues along with a body mass index of at least 28. It works by preventing the absorption in the body of fats from one’s diet. It can also aid in the prevention of type-2 diabetes and reduce blood pressure. Xenical is typically taken 3 times a day, just before meals.
