Overview

Ventolin is the most common inhaler used to treat acute shortness of breath in asthmatic patients. It is part of a group of medications called Short Acting Beta-Agnoist (or SABA) inhalers.

The Ventolin inhaler is used when your chest feel tight or your are experiencing shortness of breath. One or two puffs usually relieves any symptoms.

If you are finding that you are using the inhaler more than 5 times a week, it may be a sign of worsening asthma or another respiratory condition, and you must see your GP or pharmacist about this.

If you experience shortness of breath accompanied with extreme pain, then this may be a sign of something more serious and you must seek appropriate medical advice.
